Cuepacs Confident Government Will Aprove Additional Incentive Of RM500

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- Cuepacs is very confident that the government will approve an additional incentive of RM500 for the 1.2 million civil servants in the country in lieu of a bonus.

Its president Omar Osman said a series of meetings held on the matter between him and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had borne positive results.

"Recently when I got to welcome the Prime Minister at the Langkawi Airport, I broached the subject with him and he gave a reaction that was rather positive.

"We only ask that, should the government approve the incentive, it be paid before the new school term starts (in January)," he told reporters at Parliament's lobby on Tuesday.

The government had announced incentive payments of RM500 each for civil servants in the support and professional and management groups this year but Cuepacs, the umbrella union for civil servants, is urging the government to give the respective groups an additional incentive of RM500 on top of what has been announced.
